About the Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts at the University of Abuja is dedicated to advancing knowledge in the humanities, languages, literature, history, philosophy, and performing arts. Established as part of the university's founding structure, we foster critical thinking, cultural preservation, and creative expression in Nigeria's capital city.
Our History
The University of Abuja was established by Act of the National Assembly in 1988, with academic activities commencing in 1990. The Faculty of Arts traces its roots to the university's early structure, initially operating under broader colleges before evolving into distinct faculties. From its temporary base in Abuja's city center to the permanent Main Campus along Airport Road, the Faculty has grown to become a center for excellence in humanities education, contributing to national unity and intellectual development.
Today, with eight vibrant departments, we continue the university's founding mission to bridge regional divides through quality education.
